Gang selling SIM on fake IDs busted in Ujjain, 5 held Achi-News

Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): The Nankada police on Wednesday arrested a gang of five people, including three from West Bengal, who were duping people by selling SIMs activated with fake identity cards.

SP Pradeep Sharma told reporters that information was received that Akshay Tirwar (22), resident of New Indira Nagar, Najiri and Sadiq Khan (20), resident of Kannod, Dewas district, were involved in online and cyber fraud by fraudulently activating the SIMs. on fake IDs.

Following a tip-off that the accused were standing near the gate of the planetarium to sell SIM to three people from West Bengal, the police team launched a seizure and nabbed all the five youths including the duo. Others arrested are Sheikh Mahibul (35), Baban Khan (38) and Sajjan Khan (24), all of whom belong to West Bengal.

During the interrogation, the accused admitted to buying and selling fake SIMs. Sadiq used to use the SIMs after activating the fake names and then he would hand them over to Akshay to sell them to the other three accused in West Bengal.

The accused told the police that they had purchased 70 SIMs from Akshay Tirwar while Akshay told the police that he had brought the said SIMs from Munti, a resident opposite her. The police registered a case under the IT Act and began investigating the accused. The police found 13 activated and 43 inactive SIMs from the accused.
