CBI has taken strict action against corruption in Maharashtra. Four people, including the assistant director of the Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) posted in Mumbai and a director of a private laboratory, have been arrested in a bribery case. All of them were said to have taken a bribe of Rs 1.20 lakh. The CBI has arrested FSSAI assistant director Amul Jatep, director of the private laboratory Vikas Bhardwaj, senior director of the company Herschel Shaugal along with an employee of the company.
Took a bribe to clear pending accounts
During searches of the houses of the accused, 37.3 lakhs in cash, about 45 grams of gold, documents related to real estate and other incriminating documents were found. It is reported that Assistant Manager Jagtap took a bribe of 1.20 lakh rupees to clear the pending accounts of Reliable Analytical Laboratories Pvt Ltd. The company operates a network of chemical laboratories by FSSAI.The samples sent by FSSAI are analyzed in the company.
CBI caught red-handed taking bribe
When CBI received a complaint about it, a team was formed to crack the case. During this, Jagtap was arrested red-handed while taking a bribe. The arrested accused were presented in court. CBI has taken all of them into custody till May 8.
