Dr Reddy’s Laboratories said on Tuesday that it had announced the recall of six doses of the drug after they were found to have a potency below the parameters. These drugs are used to reduce the level of phenylalanine (Phe) in the blood. The Hyderabad-based drug manufacturer said that the company is returning shipments of Sapropterin Dihydrochloride powder for oral solution 100 mg after the color of the powder changed in some packages. A change in the color of the drug indicates a weakness in its effectiveness. It was found that the pH level in patients may increase due to the weakening of the drug’s effectiveness. This can affect especially on babies and children.
