- The action of the mining department on the orders of NGT
On the orders of NGT, a team of Environment Department and Mining Department took stock of Chandil Gauri Ghat from Subarnarekha River on Monday. During the inspection, evidence of illegal sand mining was found. Illegal miners make boats with the help of drums and take sand from the river and bring it to the shore. Four such boats have been recovered and damaged. NGT has filed a case taking suo motu cognizance.
