Karachi: For the first time in the country’s history, onion exports from Pakistan have reached an all-time high.
According to Waheed Ahmed, head of the Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, onion exports from the country exceeded 210 million dollars from July to April 2024. Before that, in the country’s history, only kino had more exports, which are 210 million dollars. By the end of this year, onion export will reach 250 million dollars.
Waheed Ahmed said that due to the ban on the export of Indian onions, Pakistan has found new markets, Pakistani onions have gained access to the major markets of the world, including the Far East and the Middle East.
Waheed Ahmed said that the government will also have to take steps to extend the life of onions because Pakistanis can develop a new market for onions in the coming times.
