After tireless efforts, India succeeded in developing a vaccine against tuberculosis from live bacteria. Its first test in humans was successful, where better results were obtained in terms of safety and level of immunogenicity (antibody production) within 28 days.

According to the information, Bharat Biotech International created this vaccine by neutralizing the toxicity of Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria by keeping it alive. That is why it is called a live attenuated vaccine.

Last month, doctors at Hyderabad’s Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences conducted the first phase of clinical trials of the new BCG vaccine. Then, after its assessment at the Government Expert Committee (SEC) meeting on April 30, approval for the second phase was given the green light.

Conditional Permission: The expert committee told the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) that the trial could continue under certain conditions. In this framework, adults will be tested using the RT PCR technique. This will be tested on days 28 and 56 of the test. The trial will not include HIV or diabetes patients.
