Force Motors has released the first look of the 5-door version of its upcoming Gurkha SUV. The company is working on the 2022 Gurkha 5-door and its pre-production model has been spotted testing several times in India. The new Gurkha will also get a 425 mm longer wheelbase than the 3-door version.
According to media reports, the SUV can be launched in the Indian market in June this year. Prices of the Force Gurkha 5-door can start at Rs 16 lakh, while the Gurkha 3-door currently has a starting price of Rs 5.10 lakh. After launch, the Gurkha 5-door will compete in the segment with the upcoming Thar 5-door and Maruti Jimny.
Gorka 5 doors: exterior design
The image shows that the design of the upcoming 5-door SUV will be similar to the 3-door Gurkha, but some changes will be seen. The upcoming Force Gurkha 5-door will get new square-shaped headlamp units with LED DRL compared to the round-shaped headlamps of the 3-door model. However, the company’s signature two-slat grill will also be provided on the lifestyle SUV.
Apart from that, the latest car was supplied with 18-inch diamond-cut two-tone alloy wheels and 2 additional rear doors instead of the 16-inch wheels of the 3-door version. Apart from new front and rear bumpers, no other major exterior changes are expected. It has a spare wheel and a ladder mounted in the tailgate, and a snorkel like the 3-door model.
Gorka 5 doors: interior design
The company is yet to share the cabin details of the Gurkha 5-door model, but the spy shots released earlier indicated that it will get a dark gray cabin theme. It is speculated that the long-wheelbase version of the Gurkha may be offered in a three-row layout and may be offered with bench and captain’s seats in the second and third rows.
The upcoming car can be given features like a 7-inch touchscreen system in the middle of the dashboard, front and rear (second row) electric windows and manual AC with multiple vents. For safety, the car has features like dual airbags, reverse camera and rear parking sensor.
The new Gurkha will come with a 4-wheel drive option
The 5-door model of Force Gurkha can be equipped with the 2.6-liter diesel engine available in the 3-door version, which produces 90 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. But this engine can be introduced by tweaking a bit. The company took this engine from Mercedes.
For the transmission, it will continue to have four-wheel drive with a 5-speed manual transmission and a low-range transfer case. The 5-door model will be equipped with a 4WD gear button located near the driver’s seat in the center console. By comparison, the 3-door came with separate front and rear differential lock handles.
