The fire engulfed the forests of Bandarchoa and Kodgar which fall under the Pandara Range of the Marwahi Forest Range. Here the forest department officers and workers remain negligent. Even after receiving information from the villagers, no forest personnel came to the spot, while when the authorities were called, they did not receive the call. Because of this the fire spreads continuously.

It is suspected that people going to the forest to collect Mawah started the fire.
