A new initiative has been taken by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer to increase voter turnout in the Lok Sabha elections to be held on May 25 in Haryana, in which school children have been involved and will win cash prizes. As part of this initiative, the children will be encouraged to vote for their parents this time and after voting on the polling day, they will have to upload a selfie with the blue ink on the finger of the family voter. Deputy Commissioner Rahul Narwal said that through the district level lottery, the first, second and third winners will get cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 2.5 lakh respectively. Under this initiative, the school in the district whose students upload the most selfies will also receive a special prize of Rs 25,000.
According to him, for uploading a selfie, a link has been opened on the portal www.ceoharyana.gov.in, which will be opened on the day of voting, i.e. May 25. The link for uploading selfies will open for school children from 7 am onwards along with voting and selfies can be uploaded until 8 pm. The aim of this initiative is not only to increase the voting percentage this time but also to make the school students, who will become future voters, aware of their voting rights from now on.
