The Fact was verified by VishvasNews # New Delhi: In the midst of the Lok Sabha elections, a post went viral on social media claiming that West Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was appealing to people to vote for the BJP instead of the TMC.
Vishwa News found this claim to be misleading in its own investigation. Addressing an election rally in support of the Congress candidate, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury made the comments highlighting TMC’s shortcomings compared to the BJP. His entire speech was about seeking the support of Congress.
“Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury says it is better to vote for BJP instead of TMC,” wrote Facebook user ‘Gopesh Prabhas A Vasudev’, while sharing the viral post (archive link) on May 2.

Investigation of the viral post revealed that the clip was taken from Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s speech in Murshidabad. On an open Google keyword search, we found this entire speech streamed live on the official Facebook page of the Indian National Congress – West Bengal. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was campaigning for Murtaza Hossain from Jangipur Lok Sabha constituency. After listening to the entire clip, it will be seen that at 25:08 minutes of his speech, Adhir Chowdhury says that Modiji’s charisma is fading day by day. That charisma of Modiji is nothing more. Initially, the Prime Minister claimed that he would get more than 400 seats. Modiji’s appeal is no more. According to the current survey, the BJP will already lose 100 seats, and may lose more seats in the coming days. He said, this time the victory of the Congress and the Left Front is very important. If the Congress and the Left Front do not succeed, it will be a blow to India’s secularism. It is better to vote for BJP than to vote for Trinamool. But don’t vote for Trinamool or BJP.

Incidentally, polling was held in Murshidabad on May 7. With a total of 22 assembly constituencies, Murshidabad is an important electoral battleground in West Bengal.
