Eye-opening and shocking PM Modi slams Congress after handing over Katchatheevu in 1974 – News18 Kannada Achi-News

New Delhi (March 31): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday hit out at the Congress over the decision to hand over the Katchathivu island to Sri Lanka and accused the party of undermining the country’s integrity and interests. Prime Minister Modi’s response came after a Right to Information (RTI) report revealed how the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi-led Congress government had handed over the Katchathivu island to Sri Lanka in 1974.

Referring to the RTI report as “eye-opening and shocking”, PM Modi said people were “angry” about the move and “could never trust the Congress”.

PM Modi in his social media post said it was eye opening and shocking! New facts reveal how the Congress mercilessly handed over Katchathivu to Sri Lanka. This has angered all Indians and it has come to people’s minds that we can never trust Congress! Congress modus operandi is to undermine the unity, integrity and interests of India.

Fishermen from areas like Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu go to Kachchathivu Island because Indian waters are running out of fish. The fishermen cross the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) to reach the island but are detained by the Sri Lanka Navy.
