The Enforcement Directorate has arrested suspended Trinamool Congress leader Shahjahan Sheikh. ED arrested him after interrogation at Sirhat Jail. Sheikh Shahjahan arrested in PMLA case. He will be arraigned in the Special Court for Emergency Medicine on Monday.

Earlier on Saturday, Shahjan Sheikh was interrogated in Sirhat prison in the Sandeshakhli land grab case. After getting permission from the Sirhat court in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, a team of ED officials interrogated him for more than four hours inside the jail.
Sheikh was arrested on February 29 after being on the run for 55 days following violent protests by women who accused him of sexual harassment and land grabbing. Earlier on January 5, he escaped after a mob attacked the ED team that had gone to search his house in an alleged allowance scam. Sheikh is currently in prison in connection with the attack on the senior officials of the central agency. The Calcutta High Court transferred the assault case to the CBI on March 6.
