GUWAHATI: On March 23, 2024, women leaders and young women from all walks of life will come together for the Global Mentoring Walk in Guwahati. This event is part of a global movement to inspire and empower the next generation of female leaders through mentorship.
The Mentoring Walk aims to create a platform for established women leaders to share their experiences and insights with aspiring women leaders. Through open conversations, as they walk together, the participants discuss personal and professional challenges, successes and ambitions, while creating meaningful mentoring relationships along the way.
The Mentoring Walk in Guwahati, Assam, India, is just one of hundreds of walks taking place simultaneously in over 60 countries. This represents a powerful opportunity to demonstrate the power of women’s leadership and foster solidarity and support among women from diverse backgrounds.
This year the Guwahati Global Mentoring Walk will also host Indian politician and national speaker Shazia Ilmi. Ilmi was a television journalist and anchor at Star News, where she led a media campaign for an anti-corruption bill before joining politics.
At the heart of this initiative is the belief that everyone can contribute to positive social change, no matter how small their efforts may seem. By coming together and offering guidance, mentoring and encouragement, women can uplift and inspire each other to reach their full potential.
Organized by Atreyee Borooah Thekedath, an entrepreneur and member of the Vital Voices global leadership network, who believes in the power of mentoring and paying it forward. Atrei will hold the mentoring walk for the ninth time this year. As an alumna of the Fortune/US State Department Global Women’s Mentoring Program and a member of the Vital Voices Leadership Network, she has dedicated herself to empowering women and promoting social initiatives that make a difference in people’s lives.
The Global Mentoring Walk is not just a walk; It is a symbol of solidarity, empowerment and progress. It is a reminder that by coming together, women can break down barriers, overcome obstacles and create a brighter and more inclusive future for generations to come.
