New Delhi: The Election Commission of India issued a dire warning while announcing the dates of the 18th Lok Sabha elections. He warned the political parties to take strict action against hate speech and controversial statements. He has now enforced his stance. The commission has issued notices to two political figures who have slipped their tongues. BJP MP Dilip Ghosh and Congress leader Supriya Shrinate have been served notices.

BJP MP Dilip Ghosh has been flogged by the commission for making derogatory remarks against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. BJP has issued a notice to Congress leader Supriya Shrinate for talking about BJP Lok Sabha candidate actress Kangana Ranaut. The commission said the duo’s statements were disrespectful and in bad taste.

The commission said that both statements appear to be in breach of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). Both have been instructed to respond to the show cause notice by the evening of March 29.

The first phase of the elections will begin on April 19 and the final phase 7 voting will be held on June 1. The election results will be out on June 4. Voting for 102 constituencies in the first phase will be held on April 19. on April 26 for 89 constituencies in the second phase, 94 constituencies in the third phase, 96 in the fourth phase, 49 in the fifth phase, 57 in the sixth phase and 57 in the seventh phase.
