“If we’re going to embrace it [cryptocurrency]we have to leave them [crypto companies] be here,” Trump said

Lamenting the flight of US companies due to the state’s hostility towards digital currency, Donald Trump, the 2024 presidential nominee on Thursday threw all his weight behind the hotly debated digital currency to exchange on the community vote crypto.

“If we’re going to embrace them, we have to let them be here,” the former US president said while speaking to a gathering of NFT holders at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

According to NFTPlazas, Trump welcomed a group of buyers who bought at least 47 of his NFT cards, at a price of $99 each to dinner at his Mar-a-Lago estate.

Trump, who was never a big fan of e-money, has recently discovered a passion for cryptocurrency and it has been accompanied by an increase in its popularity among the crypto community.

A March survey conducted by the crypto investment firm Paradigm revealed that 48% of crypto investors are ready to support Trump in the polls compared to 39% for the current President, Joe Biden.

During the event, Trump announced that his campaign is open to accepting campaign donations in the form of Bitcoin and other crypto tokens.

He also accused the current administration, accusing President Biden and the Chairman of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Gary Gensler of being deliberately loggerheads with crypto.

Analysts, who closely monitor Trump’s crypto-politics, believe that if the former president wins the November presidential election, Bitcoin will sit even more beautifully.

The Mar-a-Lago crypto gathering also comes at a time when the US House has passed a resolution condemning the US SEC’s policy on crypto banking, revealing the widening rift between pro-crypto and anti-crypto political groups.

President Joe Biden’s administration plans to veto a joint resolution that could change the cryptocurrency policy overseen by the SEC.

On May 8, the White House criticized some members of the House of Representatives for trying to pass a joint resolution.
