GUWAHATI: It was an emotional day at Don Bosco School, Panbazar on Wednesday, May 22, as students and teachers bid farewell to outgoing principal Sebastian Mathew. Father Alex Matthew is the school’s new principal, who took office on May 20.

Father Sebastian will take charge as Provincial of the Province covering Central Assam, Lower Assam, Garo Hills and the hilly areas. He will head all the Don Bosco institutes included in these areas.
Sebastian Mathew served as Principal of Don Bosco School, Panbazar for ten years after serving as Principal for two years. In the twelve years of its association, the school witnessed various changes.
Speaking to GPlus, Father Sebastian Mathew said, “I have always tried to maintain the name of the institution with more quality and discipline. Sometimes I was tough on maintaining the discipline of the school.”
The school witnessed the visit of the Rector Major of Don Bosco during his tenure.
Father Alex Mathew was a parish priest in South West Garo Hills before taking up the role of administrator. In 2016, he founded Don Bosco College in Bongingaon and was the principal for six years.

Speaking about challenges, Father Alex Matthew said, “Firstly, limited space of the school is a challenge and increasing the motivation of some teachers is another,” adding that he will try to grow the school and gradually understand other challenges and changes that the school requires. .
Several programs were organized by the students and teachers to bid farewell to the outgoing principal in the school auditorium.
