A special court in Pune can give its final verdict on May 10 i.e. tomorrow in the murder case of social activist Dr. Narendra Devholkar. Devholkar’s family hopes to get justice after almost 11 years.

The murder took place in 2013

In fact, 68-year-old Devholkar went for a walk on the morning of August 20, 2013. He went for a morning walk on the Omkareshwar Bridge in Pune. Then they stopped two people riding a motorcycle and shot him dead.

Flee to Aurangabad

According to the suspicion, the two rioters took out guns and fired three more shots at his head at short range. As a result, the doctor died on the spot. Two sanitation workers of the municipal company who were present on the bridge saw two people fleeing on a motorcycle after the shooting. Investigators say the attackers gave the motorcycle to a third person, where there were no closed-circuit cameras. After that, these people caught a bus and fled to Aurangabad, now named Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar.

Last month, Special Public Prosecutor Suryavanshi said, “During today’s hearing, Additional Special Sessions Judge AA Jadhav set May 10 to deliver the verdict in the case.” A case is pending against five people in the Narendra Devholkar murder case. The final decision on this matter is expected tomorrow. A court in Pune can give a verdict in this matter.

Accusations against

Pune police have opened an investigation into the murder case. But in 2014 the case was transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). CBI has arrested Virendra Singh Tauda, ​​Sachin Andura and Sharad Kalaskar in this case. Tawde was reportedly associated with the Sanatan Sanstha. While Andorra and Clasar were allegedly the shooters. Apart from these three, CBI filed a chargesheet in 2019 against lawyer Sanjeev Punalkar and his assistant Vikram Bhava.

The CBI has also filed a chargesheet against the accused under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). Tauda, ​​Endor and Kalaskar are in prison. While Punalkar and Bhava are out on bail.

Who was Narendra Devholkar?

Dr. Narendra Ayut Devholkar was born on November 1, 1945 in Satara district of Maharashtra. After completing MBBS, instead of becoming a doctor, he engaged in social work. Since 1982, he was fully engaged in the movement to eradicate superstitions. In 1989, he founded Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti. This organization operates without any kind of government or foreign assistance. However, many right-wing organizations saw it as anti-Hindu. The murders of Govind Pansara and the journalist MM Kalburgi took place in Karnataka.
