Every day devotees are cheated in the name of darshan at Mahakal temple but this time they were saved due to the vigilance of the devotees. On May 23, four people from Gurgaon, Nidhi Sharma, husband of Parlav Sharma and Ritu Gupta, husband of Dheeraj Gupta had reached Mahakal temple for darshan. The four visitors were not allowed for Bhasma Aarti and all of them decided to attend Shayan Aarti in the evening.
Nidhi said that the four had taken early darshan tickets of Rs 250. When we stood in line, we came to know that the line of 250 was mixed with the common devotees. We had to perform Shayan Aarti, for this Pandit came to us standing there and said that if you want to see the Aarti, it will cost Rs 1100 per person, as we will make you sit in the front, on back to the matter. settled for Rs 4400, the Pandit asked us to give the money after the Aarti. As soon as we were standing, the temple security personnel asked us to go ahead and we were moved from the place indicated by the Pandit. After this, the Pandit tried many times to collect the money by making us sit in the Aarti but his arrangements could not be made and so our money was saved.
Nidhi said that eventually we have to do the Aarti after watching it on TV, soon Nidhi will complain to the collector against this kind of looting in Mahakal temple and those who collect money in the name of Aarti. She said that after coming from such a distance, she felt very bad seeing the arrangements of the temple. The common pundits are all looting and there is no one to stop them.
