On Sunday, while the opposition gathered at Ramlia Maidan in Delhi to show its strength, the BJP too made full preparations to answer the opposition. The Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress have already decided that their issue in Ramlia Maidan is going to be the allegedly wrong action against corruption by the central government.
But BJP has decided on a strategy to answer the opposition. Huge posters on every road leading to Ramlia Maidan showed the opposition talking about corruption and saving the corrupt and Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling for action against the corrupt.
Every effort was made by the BJP to ensure that every passenger sitting in the vehicle who came to join the protest in Ramlia Maidan would see such posters on which the opposition had raised slogans of saving the corrupt and the Prime Minister. We need to talk about acting against such corrupt leaders. Such posters were also seen on many buildings including automatic buses.
Later, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cleared the opposition on the same lines at a Meerut rally. The Prime Minister said that the opposition is raising questions about taking action against corrupt leaders. But with his strong intentions, he also replied to the opposition of Mirat that no matter how much politics is done against the corrupt leaders, his action will continue.
What did the opposition say?
The grand alliance of 28 parties gathered in Ramlia Maidan in one voice raised questions about the crackdown on corruption and accused the central government of misusing agencies and jailing opposition leaders to weaken the opposition. The opposition also questioned the BJP’s victory figures of four hundred seats. Rahul Gandhi said this can only happen if ‘match-fixing’ is done incorrectly and a level playing field is not given to all players.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that instead of giving an equal opportunity to the opposition, the central government is making it difficult for the opposition by digging big holes in the playing field. Rahul and Kharj, both senior leaders of the Congress, raised questions about the confiscation of party deposits just before the elections and said that this way the entire country is in danger.
Rahul Gandhi said if BJP manages to win 400 seats, it will change the constitution. He said it was like playing with fire. According to him, if an attempt is made to change the constitution, there will be great instability in the country. Because of this the country can split into many pieces. This warning from the Congress leader is considered a big warning in itself.
Who will receive the support of the public?
Demonstrator Nayan Bhardwaj, who came to listen to the opposition’s “Save Democracy” rally, told Amar Ojala that the way the central government arrests leaders one after another reveals its intentions. According to him, the manner in which only opposition leaders are arrested also creates doubt in the minds of people.
Who will get the public’s support in these elections? On this question, Nayan Bhardwaj said that the way BJP is claiming victory on 400 seats, nothing like that will happen. The opposition parties are in strong positions in their fields and it will not be possible for the BJP to defeat them.
Sarthak of Delhi said Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest seems completely wrong. There are many decisions of the central government whose logic is still not visible. According to him, the public does not yet have concrete information on what the impact of decisions like demonetization was and who benefited from it. In such a situation, only the action taken against the opposition leaders creates doubt in the public mind.
