Cyclone Ramal: IMD issues warnings of heavy rains and strong winds in the northeast Achi-News

Guwahati: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has asked the Northeast to prepare for Cyclone Ramal, which is expected to hit various northeastern states and is expected to make landfall between Sagar Island in West Bengal and Khepupara in Bangladesh. This will likely bring the heaviest rains and strong winds in parts of the northeast.

The governments of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura have alerted the National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force to be prepared for the upcoming weather conditions.

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said the IMD has issued warnings of extremely heavy rains over Assam along with other northeastern states on May 27 and 28. Hence, the Government of Assam has taken various precautions to ensure the safety and welfare. to be of its citizens.

A meeting on Sunday, chaired by staff from the ASDMA and the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management, decided on some measures to deal with the flooding problems that may be faced due to the storm.

According to sources, GMC has dispatched super sucker machines and pumps with additional personnel and is actively monitoring locations that have previously experienced flooding issues.

Boat traffic regulations may also be established in some rivers, especially in the districts of Dhubri, Goalpara, South Salmara, Bongaigaon, Barpeta and Barak Valley.

Assam is now on red alert based on the possibility of isolated heavy rains and notices have been sent to people to be prepared for it.
