There is good news for heart patients. The government has not made any change in the price of the coronary stent. However, those manufacturers and importers whose retail prices are lower than the set amount, are given the freedom to change the prices.

The stent supplies blood to the heart…

A coronary stent is a tube-shaped device placed in the coronary arteries. It supplies blood to the heart to keep the arteries open in the treatment of coronary heart disease.

The price is almost equal to 2023

In an order issued by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), the maximum price of a drug-eluting stent for this year has been set at Rs 38,267, which is almost equal to that of 2023. According to the order, the maximum price of a bare metal stent has been set at Rs 10,509, while a stent A drug eluting device (DES) including a metallic DES or a biovascular scaffold (BVS)/degradable stent can be sold at a maximum price of Rs 38,267.

An increase in the wholesale price index; what are the prices

In 2023, the price of a BMS stent is set at Rs 10,509 and the price of a DES stent, i.e. drug-eluting stent, is set at Rs 38,265. However, this amount is higher compared to 2022, as at that time the price of BMS stent was set at Rs 9,373 and of DES stent at Rs 34,128. The reason for this increase is attributed to the increase in the wholesale price index.
