Congress tried to loot 27% for OBCs to Muslims: PM claims Achi-News

New Delhi: The Lok Sabha Election 2024 festival has started in the country. The first phase of elections in Karnataka is over and now the second phase of elections has started. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a special interview to the News18 network (PM Modi To News18). In this he spoke about many other issues including questions relating to current politics.

In a highly exclusive interview with the News18 network, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lashed out at the Congress, accusing it of ‘trying to rob’ the 27 percent reservation for OBCs in the country. Responding to a question from 18 Network Group Editor Rahul Joshi about a 2006 video in which former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh allegedly said that poor Muslims have the first right over the country’s resources, Prime Minister Modi pointed to a manifesto’ r Congress for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. and said it has the ‘seal of the Muslim League’.

Narendra Modi gave some examples to prove that Manmohan Singh always wanted to take part of OBC reservation and gave it to Muslims several times during his tenure.

Modi went on to say, what is the first sin committed by OBCs? In the 90s, they decided to classify Muslims as OBCs in Karnataka. So, first they rejected and stopped ABAs, but for political gain they labeled Muslims as an Outline Business Case. Later the Congress Party was moved from the Centre. The project was shelved until 2004. When the Congress came back in 2004, it immediately decided to give OBC quota to Muslims in Andhra Pradesh. The matter became complicated in court. The Indian Parliament had decided to reserve 27% for OBCs as per the original intention of the Constitution. Now, they are accused of trying to rob this 27 percent quota.

In the 2009 election manifesto, Prime Minister Modi said that the old grand party had once again raised the demand for keeping Muslims, and in 2011, there was a Cabinet note in which it decided to give a portion of the OBC quota to Muslims. He also tried this in the Uttar Pradesh elections. But in vain. In 2012, the Andhra High Court overturned it. He went to the Supreme Court, where he was not relieved either. He said the 2014 manifesto talked about detention on the basis of religion.

Also, when the Constitution of India was framed, there were no RSS or BJP people. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Pandit Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and many other great men of our country were present, Modi said, after thinking for a long time he decided that there can be no reservation on the basis of religion in a country like India. But look at his manifesto for the 2024 elections. It bears the seal of the Muslim League. The way they defy the Constitution, the way they insult Ambedkar, a sword of danger hangs over the doubt for SCs and STs. They make life difficult for OBCs. Shouldn’t I inform the people of the country about this? He inquired.
