MUMBAI: Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole has made a controversial statement that if the INDIA faction comes to power in the Lok Sabha elections, Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir will be cleaned. Patole said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has acted against morals in the issue of construction of Ram Mandir, which will be rectified when we come to power.

Shankaracharya was against this (prana pratistha). The four Shankaracharyas purify the Ram Mandir. A Ram Durbar will be established at that place. The Congress leader said that it is not an idol of Ram, but a child form of Ram Lalla. Narendra Modi has acted against morals while building Ram Mandir. “We’ll fix it,” Patole said.

Opposition to Shankaracharya

Shankaracharya, the head of the four major Hindu mathas (monasteries), stayed away from the Ram Mandir Prana Pratistha ceremony. Three of the four Shankaracharyas have clarified that they are not against the January 22 event, nor against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but they said that the coronation ceremony was not being held in accordance with Hindu scriptures.

Patole said that Jyotir Math Shankaracharya had said that it was an act of ignorance to install an idol of Rama in a temple that was not being built.
