‘Congress is trying to steal 27 per cent OBC quota for minorities’, Modi blasts in interview to News18 – News18 Bangla Achi-News

New Delhi: Congress is trying to ‘loot’ 27 percent of the total reservation for ABA for minorities Prime Minister Narendra Modi made such an explosive comment. In an exclusive interview with News 18 ahead of the third phase of the Lok Sabha polls, he compared the Congress in this regard. He also gave several examples of how the Old Great Party of the country tries to provide seclusion on the basis of religion.

A video of then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s 2006 remark, “Poor Muslims have the first right to the country’s wealth”, has recently gone viral on social media. In response to Network 18 group editor Rahul Joshi’s question about that, Prime Minister Modi quipped, “The Congress manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls has the imprint of the Muslim League.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi cites several examples and tries to prove that Manmohan Singh always wanted to give a share of ABA reservation to Muslims. He said, “Look at the history of the Congress. This demand (for conservation) has been increasing since 1990. A large part of society feels that something should be done for them. Protest against it. Before the 1990s, the Congress was also against it and suppressed such demands with a heavy hand. Then whatever commission they set up or create, reports started coming in favor of the OBCs. They continue to deny, reject and suppress those reports. But after the 90s, because of vote bank politics, they felt something should be done.”

Modi’s question, “So what was wrong with Congress in the first place?” In the nineties they decided to classify Muslims as OBCs in Karnataka. First rejecting and oppressing ABAs, then identifying Muslims as an Outline Business Case for political gain. The Congress was banned from the centre. This scheme was in operation until 2004. In 2004 the Congress came back to power and decided to give OBC quota to Muslims in Andhra Pradesh. The matter became complicated in court. In keeping with the spirit of the Constitution of India, the Congress decided to reserve 27 percent for OBCs. But 27 percent actually try to rob. “

Modi said this demand was also in the Congress election manifesto in 2009. He said, “There is a cabinet note on this in 2011, where they decided to give a share of the OBC quota to Muslims. They also tried this in the Uttar Pradesh polls. But it didn’t work. In 2012, the Andhra High Court overturned this decision. They even went to the Supreme Court, but in vain. The 2014 manifesto also talked about detention on the basis of religion.”

Modi mocked the Congress over the 2024 Lok Sabha election manifesto. He said, “When the Constitution was being implemented in India, no one from RSS or BJP was present. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Pandit Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and many other great men of our country were present and after long consideration they decided that religion cannot be kept in a country like India. But look at their manifesto for election 2024. The impression of the Muslim League is clear in this. The way they are going against the constitution, the way they are insulting Ambedkar… The danger hangs over the issue of reservation by SCs, STs. They will make the life of OBCs intolerable. I will not tell this issue to the countrymen?”

In a recent interview, Rahul Gandhi raised the question, how many OBCs are working in the media? How many OBC judges are there in the country? Condemning such comments, Prime Minister Modi counter-questioned, what is the Congress policy for OBCs?

Modi said, “These are their sins. The whole country is paying for their (Congress) sins. If they were truly secular, doing social justice in a real sense, not voting bank politics, then today they wouldn’t have to walk around with fake papers. I believe that whatever my government has done in the last 10 years, whatever the outcome, we will be able to respond based on action. We will give justice to all.”

Addressing the Congress, Modi threw a question, “How did our country get the first tribal president?” He also replied, “Through our thinking and consciousness. We have three chances to elect the President of India. Once in Atlji’s time, twice in my time. Who did we elect the first time? APJ Abdul Kalam, a member of a minority community. Then A Dalit (Ramanath Kovind) and then a tribal woman (Draupadi Murmu). Our work shows how we think.”
