The Congress delegation reached the Election Commission (EC) office in Delhi on Monday. The delegation complained about several issues, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comment on the Muslim League regarding the party’s manifesto and a demand for action. This delegation included National Congress Speaker Pawan Kheda, former Union Minister Salman Khurshid and many others.

Khurshid said, “We are deeply hurt by what the Prime Minister is saying in his speeches. What he said about our manifesto is a pack of lies. We are deeply hurt by it. You cannot dispute the manifesto of any other party. You can uphold it. You can argue about That. You can analyze it. But to say that about the manifesto of a party at the national level that was involved in the national movement is a bundle of lies. Whereas a very good manifesto was written.”

He said, where did the Muslim League come into this manifesto? We are a national party. We participated in the freedom struggle, which Prime Minister Modi’s party did not. It is sad to make such claims against us. The former union minister also said, we are very saddened by this matter and we understand that the prime minister has no right to say such a thing. We raised this matter before the election committee and asked them to take a special request to take it seriously and take steps.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Pawan Kheda said, we have raised many issues. We strongly objected to the way the Prime Minister gave Muslim League status to our manifesto. We also expressed our positions regarding the Prime Minister’s hoardings that were placed in universities. We have also expressed our views on the affidavit of BJP’s Trivandrum candidate, Rajiv Chandrashekhar. There are many mistakes in the affidavit. Mistakes were made on purpose. Hada said, YouTube channels that are closed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting without notice. It is not in their power. Since then the elections have been announced. The election committee should recommend which YouTube channel it wants to remove or not to remove. The office currently belongs to the provisional government. He has no right to impose such restrictions on freedom of speech.

What did Prime Minister Modi say?

The prime minister said at an election rally in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, that the Congress manifesto reflects the same mindset that was in the Muslim League during the freedom movement. The Congress manifesto bears the stamp of the Muslim League completely and whatever part is left of it, the Leftists have completely dominated it. Congress doesn’t seem to mind at all.

Congress retaliated

The Congress then accused the BJP of divisive politics and alleged that the prime minister was adopting the strategy of diverting attention. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that the Prime Minister did not know his history as it was none other than Mukherjee who was then the president of the Hindu Mahasabha and was part of the coalition government in Bengal with the Muslim League. He said that the Hindu Mahasabha was also in alliance with Muslim League in Sindh and North West Frontier Province Ramesh said, Congress does not believe in divisive politics.
