The Congress on Sunday said there were several irregularities in the investigation into the Rohith Vemula suicide case and the Revanth Reddy government in the state will ensure that Vemula’s family gets justice. It is noteworthy that in 2016, the Telangana Police filed a closure report in the Hyderabad University student Vumola’s suicide case. It claimed that Rohit Vumula was not a Dalit and committed suicide fearing that his true caste would be revealed.
Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said the death of Rohit and Moola was a dangerous harassment that exposed the anti-Dalit mindset of the BJP. He said the entire Congress including Rahul Gandhi stands with the family of Rohit and Moola at this difficult time. Venugopal said Because Telangana Police already said that this closure report was prepared in June 2023.
He claimed that there were many flaws in the preliminary investigation. The Telangana Congress government will leave no stone unturned in providing justice to Rohit’s family. He also claimed that when his government comes to power, the Roath and Walla Act will be introduced only on the issue of caste and religious harassment on university campuses. This will ensure that no socio-economically backward student has to go through a situation like Rohit’s.
