After the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections, the second phase also ended yesterday. In the first round of the elections, voting was held for a total of 102 seats in 21 countries. At the same time, in the elections held on Thursday, voting was held for 88 seats in 13 countries. In the second phase, voting was also held for 20 seats in Kerala. Now, a day after voting, the Congress on Saturday alleged that voters were harassed. He also claimed that the ruling CPI(M) hijacked the election machinery with the aim of reducing voter turnout.
Congress workers are confident of good results
The Congress also expressed confidence in a good performance in the second phase of the elections held in 13 states to 88 Lok Sabha seats and said that Narendra Modi’s claim of crossing 400 has been wiped out. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said that after the first two phases of voting in the state, Congress workers from all states are confident of good results. He further said that we are confident of winning all the 20 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala.
Decrease in voter turnout in Kerala
Venugopal blamed the ruling CPI(M) for the decline in voter turnout. He said the ruling CPI(M) had hijacked the electoral machinery, due to which Kerala saw a drop in voter turnout this year compared to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Despite heightened political excitement from the general elections to 20 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala, the voter turnout recorded a dip as the figure stood at 70.22% at 8pm last night. If we are talking about the year 2019, then 77.84 percent of the votes were cast.
