Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah held a symbolic protest in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. He said that after knocking on the doors of the Supreme Court, the Central Government released only Rs 3454 crore. Whereas the Karnataka government has demanded a compensation of Rs 18171 crore from the center for drought relief.

SM Siddaramaiah on Sunday sat on dharna in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Vidhan Soda complex located near the Legislature and Secretariat. According to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, he has demanded Rs 18171 crore from the central government for drought relief. When the Center did not provide relief, the state approached the Supreme Court, after which the central government ordered the release of the relief amount of Rs 3454 crore only. According to him, this amount is not even a fourth of the state requirement.
