The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to provide details of advertisements placed in newspapers following its order. In fact, the court ordered that NCP must give a disclaimer in all its advertisements that the use of the clock symbol is a matter under review. The Sharad Pawar faction approached the Supreme Court in this regard. It claimed that Ajit Pawar’s faction (now officially recognized as the NCP by the Election Commission of India) had not complied.
Serious action will be taken if the order is violated
A division bench of Justices Suriya Kant and KV Vishwanathan asked the Ajit Pawar faction to show how many advertisements were published after the court’s March 19 order. He also warned that if the court order is not obeyed, serious measures will be taken.
There is no right to misinterpret our orders
The bench asked senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Ajit, to present the details of how many advertisements were published after the order passed on March 19. If he (Ajit Pawar) is behaving like this then we may have to form an opinion. No one has the The right to deliberately misinterpret our order.
