But in a police interview, the girl who seduced Lyrico on February 13, 2018, tried to paint herself as the victim.

She told the police: “At first I sent him a message on Instagram, that’s how we got in touch with each other.

“Then we took it to Snapchat. He sent me a message and said, ‘What are you doing, see you?'”

After about an hour, she says several people entered the park where the couple were and “ran” towards them.

She claimed that she and Lirico ran from four gang members after they stole her iPad and chased after it.

After escaping, she said she went to look for Lyrico but went home because she was “worried and scared.”

But her version of events turned out to be a complete lie when police obtained CCTV footage showing her on the bus with the iPad she claimed was stolen.

The video also shows her ducking and hiding between the seats as a police car drives past her.

Lyrico tripped and fell before being stabbed 18 times – including six times in the face – in a frenzied attack.

With his dying breath, he managed to tell the police that he had been stabbed by four young men.

investigation

But officers struggled to find a motive or even where he was attacked – sparking a huge investigation.

The story of Lyrico’s murder featured in Channel 4’s new series Murder Case: Digital Detectives on Monday night.

It reveals how police were able to piece together clues to solve the murder using CCTV and phone records.

Using the location, officers were able to find “gold dust” CCTV that showed the boy being chased in the park, but also proved that Lyrico did not start the fight that night.

But it raised questions, including how the killers knew he would be in the park at the time.

The police leading her to establish the attack was not random and Lirico was destined to die that night.

‘digital footprint’

A taxi later confirmed it had taken a group to Sneinton, about three miles from where the boy died.

The taxi was cleaned, destroying all DNA, but the driver kept a mobile phone that one of the boys had left in his car.

Forensic experts found fingerprints on the old Nokia, but they didn’t match anyone in the police database.

A breakthrough came when police were able to find a “digital footprint” for Kashern Campbell, whose name was given to her following a media appeal.

He texted me and said ‘what are you doing, see you?’

His phone tried to “shake hands” with cell towers and public Wi-Fi hotspots, with the data revealing he was traveling in the same direction as the taxi driver.

The girl, who cannot be named, was found in contact with Campbell – indicating that Lirico lured her to his death.

DCI Williams said: “Girl 1 is very significant… it can’t happen without her – that’s the honey trap thing.”

The police were then given two more names – Ramel Miller-Campbell and Christian Jameson.

Google is looking for murder

Officers finally cracked the case when they followed CCTV along the taxi route and found footage of the two suspects in the shop which showed Jameson on the phone at 6.42pm.

This conversation matched a conversation she had made in a taxi when traveling from Sneinton to Bulwell – placing him in the park on the night of the murder.

Jameson was later found with a phone hidden on his back while in custody that showed not only Google searches about Lyrico’s murder, but also the number of the Nokia found in the taxi of another teenager – the fourth suspect.

He was charged with murder alongside the girl, Jameson, Miller-Campbell and Campbell.

Kesharan Campbell and Christian Jameson were jailed for life for 20 years and 16 years respectively for murder.

The fourth attacker – a 17-year-old boy – and Ramel Miller-Campbell, 18, were found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter and jailed for a total of 16 years.

Although they are behind bars, for Lyrico’s mother the horror continues as she agonizes over and over her son’s final moments.

She tells the show: “He always reassured me when he was out that he was safe.”
