In most countries of the world, including Pakistan, children going to school are seen carrying very heavy bags on their backs, which is surely sad to see.

These school children carry loads heavier than mattresses on their delicate backs, which is very worrying and harmful to their health and development.

The news is that the ‘one notebook policy’ has been introduced in Azad Kashmir, the education department has decided that instead of keeping separate copies of each homework subject in their dormitories, students will keep only one notebook number.

In this context, the Education Minister of Kashmir, Dewan Ali Chagatai, said in the ARY news program, “Informed Swara”, that through a register, where the children will get rid of the extra burden, the parents will also get a lot of relief in education expenses.

According to him, apart from this, it was also decided that smart syllabuses will be introduced by reducing the thickness of the books from next year.

In response to a question, he said that the one notebook policy was introduced in the first phase at the elementary level and later it will be implemented in the secondary grades as well.

In addition, health experts agree that carrying too much weight affects the physical development of children, therefore it is necessary for the relevant institutions and authorities to implement effective legislation in this regard and the physical health of children should be a priority
