LAHORE: Chaos erupted near the Lahore High Court on Wednesday after the police lathi-charged GPO Chowk by lawyers protesting against the division of civil courts and terrorism cases against colleagues.
The protesting lawyers removed barricades from the sides of the High Court building and tried to enter and throw stones at the police.
Meanwhile, the police started lathi-charge and shelling to disperse the lawyers and block their way to the main gate of the court.
The police also use water cannons to stop the lawyers from advancing.

A heavy contingent of police has been deployed at the High Court of Judges Gate of Lahore while the police have also arrested two protesting lawyers.
Meanwhile, the flow of traffic on Mall Road and nearby roads was also badly affected.
At least two to three dozen lawyers are protesting peacefully outside the court, while the police have warned them not to proceed. But the police said that if the lawyers use violence in the process, they will arrest them.
The local administration was aware of the protest a day before, while no one came to speak to the lawyers on behalf of the authorities.
On the other hand, the lawyers are determined to gain access to the court premises and are raising slogans against the police to prevent them from entering.
