The ministry memo issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on March 28 is becoming a problem for the center’s employees. The reason, in this memorandum, said that the CGHS ID will be linked to the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) of the Government of India. This card will have to be linked to the Ayushman Bharat Health Account within 30 days. After that, the workers began to fear that sooner or later the government might take some important decision regarding CGHS. Which can divert employees and pensioners from CGHS.

Treatment facilities for government employees in private hospitals may end. C. Sreekumar, Member of the Standing Committee of the National Cadre Council (JCM) and Secretary General of All India Defense Employees (AIDEF), has written a letter to the Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in this regard. Reference to last week. It is said that labor organizations and JCM did not support this decision of the central government.

There was no need to take advice from the employees.

Sreekumar wrote in his letter that the decision of the Ministry of Health that it will now have to link the CGHS ID card to the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) of the Government of India is surprising. Central government employees were shocked by this decision. The Ministry of Health did not even consider it necessary to take the advice of the central workers’ organizations and the Standing Committee of the National Staff Side Council (JCM) before taking such a decision. However, in the meantime, a health ministry official informed the workers’ organization representative that there is no requirement to link the CGHS ID card with the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) of the Government of India. This decision will remain as an option.

There is no logic behind this decision

In his letter to the government, Shricomer informed the doubts of the workers and pensioners. Employees and pensioners believe that they do not see the logic behind this decision by the Ministry of Health. The reason is that Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) is for general citizens, whereas CGHS covers government employees and pensioners. Ayushman works under the Bharat Health Account Insurance Scheme. With this, eligible citizens get an insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh. His premium is paid by the government. In CGHS, a government employee deposits a fixed amount. In this framework, the workers receive treatment facilities even in expensive private hospitals. The treatment cost here is not limited to 5 lakh rupees. In ABHA, the government pays the premium, while in CGHS, the premium is paid in advance by the retired government employee. In such a situation, how can two agreements be compared and linked?

Private hospitals withdraw from CGHS accreditation

CGHS beneficiaries are already facing many problems. There is a shortage of doctors and other staff in many health centers. There are not enough medicines and resources. Cashless treatment is not allowed in CGHS hospitals. Overcharging is charged in many places. Such private hospitals, which have multi-specialty facilities, remove themselves from the CGHS scheme. In such a situation, Sreekumar wrote in his letter, linking the CGHS ID card with the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) of the Government of India is like rubbing salt on the wound.

The office memorandum must be withdrawn

This is a well thought out move by the Government of India. Through this, an attempt was made to put pressure on the government employees to receive treatment only in the government hospitals. Employees, say hello to hospitals on behalf of CGHS. In such a situation, Shrikumar asked the health ministry to withdraw the ministry’s memorandum issued on March 28, which said to link the CGHS ID card to the Ayushman Bharat Health Account of the Government of India. A meeting of the Standing Committee of the National Team Side Council (JCM) should also be called in this regard. All aspects of the employees must be heard in it.

This message went viral on social media

Last year, a screenshot of a WhatsApp chat (message) went viral on social media. It said that CGHS and Ayushman Bharat Health Account are linked. Many types of misconceptions spread among the beneficiaries through this message. Like, why does the government want to take this step? Should the rules of treatment in government and private hospitals be changed by this order? At that time the central government denied the message which went viral on social media. PIB Fact Check has debunked the viral claim of linking CGHS ID with Ayushman Bharat Health Account ID. Call it completely fake. An office memorandum has now been issued on March 28 by the Director General of Central Government Health Schemes, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. It has been said that the CGHS and Ayushman Bharat health account should be linked.
