This action follows the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against Mahu Moitra by the CBI just a day ago.

According to reports, the probe began after the anti-corruption body Lokpal directed the CBI to investigate the allegations against Mahu Moitra and submit a report within six months. In addition, the CBI was directed to provide monthly updates on the status of the investigation.

According to reports, Mahu Moitra’s expulsion from the Lok Sabha in December last year was due to allegations of accepting a bribe from businessman Darshan Hirnandani in return for posing critical questions about the Narendra Modi government in Parliament. It is also alleged that she disclosed confidential login credentials to the Parliament website, allowing Hiranandani to post direct questions.

While denying the bribery allegations, Mahu Moitra admitted sharing the login details, citing common practice among MPs. She appealed the expulsion in the Supreme Court.
