Caitlin Brown, Brantford, Ont. A woman who was previously sentenced to house arrest after admitting to doldrums has been charged again in connection with a new victim.

Hamilton Police confirmed to CTV News that three new charges were filed on May 6. They include obtaining by false pretenses, false information and fraud under $5,000.

These charges stem from alleged incidents between April 28 and April 30.

other charges

Brown was arrested by Hamilton police on April 30 and charged the next day with obtaining impersonation, media harassment and allegedly breaching a probation order.

Hamilton police said the alleged incidents took place on April 17 and 18, and involved Brown falsely seeking pregnancy and childbirth support from another victim.

Brown has been in custody since her arrest on April 30.

previous argument

In December 2023, Brown pleaded guilty to 21 counts related to fraud and doula fraud.

The court heard she contacted numerous doulas over several months starting in June 2022. She often told them she was pregnant as a result of sexual assault. The doulas supported Brown, many times as she pretended to have a dead birth.

Brown was sentenced to two years of house arrest in February 2024, although at the time the judge raised concerns about a mental health report, which suggested Brown could be committed again.

More to come.
