  • “PTI should go along with PML-N ruling for electoral reforms.”
  • PML-N to approach JUI-F chief to address grievances: Sanaullah.
  • Polling staff have “forced” in today’s by-polls: Ali Muhammad Khan.

Senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Sanaullah on Sunday said the turnout in today’s by-elections is a “big message” for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

“PTI voters have not come out today [during by-elections]” Sanaullah claimed while speaking on News Geo Naya Pakistan programme, adding that his party was satisfied with the poll results and had always accepted the election results.

Calling on political parties to use relevant forums to address the complaints relating to the election, he was of the view that a party led by Nawaz Sharif used to raise objections to the election results “within the system” but the founder of the PTI, Imran Khan, always tried to “bulldoze” the existing mechanism.

Commenting on the election event today, a PML-N stalwart said that the turnout is usually low in by-elections and only loyal supporters go to their party polling stations.

He expressed satisfaction about the by-elections and said that results are pouring in from all polling stations, as well as Form 45 being published.

Sanaullah said that the complaints would be lodged if any wrongdoing was done on the polling day.

The former interior minister, who was facing the defeat of independent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Dr Nisar Jutt in the February 8 national polls on the NA-100 Faisalabad seat, urged PTI central leader Ali Muhammad Khan that he should sit with the PML- N to identify and address shortcomings through reforms in the electoral system rather than “putting bulls” into the system.

He added that his party has always worked for the good of the country and has invited political stakeholders to resolve issues through dialogues.

Regarding Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Sanaullah said that they would hold talks with the main religio-political party of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, to address its grievances.

PTI’s Ali Muhammad Khan, speaking on the same programme, said that his party has huge public support and does not need to rig the polls.

He claimed that the same rigging tactics had been repeated in today’s by-elections that were used in the general votes on February 8. He claimed that polling staff were being forced into today’s by-poll.

The PTI leader further said that Punjab voters voted for his party, but “someone else is doing election results”.

However, he called the election results of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), where the party Imran founded its government, legitimate and asked political parties to file legal complaints if they found any irregularities in the previous polls.

During today’s by-poll on 21 national and provincial assembly seats, the voting process was marred by violent clashes between workers of different political parties in different districts of Punjab amid suspension of cellular and internet services to maintain law and order. and order.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ordered action after taking note of the killing of a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) worker in a violent clash during by-elections in Narowal in Punjab and complaints of alleged abduction of polling staff.
