Since the findings against Lerman, the parties have disagreed as to the legal costs and who should pay what is expected to amount to a significant legal bill for the lengthy and standardized case.

Earlier this week, the court heard that he has no financial backers and that his lawyers agreed that they should not be paid if he loses the case.

Esher will be required to pay Wilkinson at least part of the legal expenses incurred in retaining her lawyers.

After that, the chain could claim it back against Lerman as part of its expenses.

Lerman has until May 31 to appeal the determination of the defamation case.
