Network Ten requested to reopen and present new evidence in the Bruce Lehrman defamation case just days before the verdict was handed down.

The lawyers of Network Ten filed an interlocutory motion on Sunday and asked to reopen the high-profile case, so that new evidence can be received for the consideration of Judge Michael Lee.

Judge Lee is scheduled to deliver his verdict in the multimillion-dollar case in federal court Thursday after weighing evidence from the month-long trial.

The application will be heard by Judge Lee at 5pm on Tuesday.

Mr. Lerman is suing Network Ten and journalist Lisa Wilkinson for reporting in February 2021 on the project in which Brittany Higgins was interviewed about being allegedly raped in an office of the House of Parliament in March 2019.

He is seeking extensive damages, saying these reports have ruined his reputation.

The trial against Esher ended in December as Judge Lee deliberated on the significant amount of evidence presented during the case.

Mr Lerman also sued News Corp and ABC for covering Ms Higgins’ allegations.

Both of those cases were settled, with the former Liberal staffer awarded $445,000 in legal fees under the settlements.
