Boy drowns near Queensland border in holiday tragedy Achi-News

A 17-year-old boy died after jumping into the water near Hastings Point, near the Queensland Border with New South Wales.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 4.30pm after reports that a boy had jumped from a bridge over the Kodjara stream and disappeared under the water.

The emergency services were told that after the boy jumped into the water, he surfaced for a short time, then disappeared under the water.

This is understandable with the tide going out and the water being shallow.

A rescue helicopter was sent with locals who assisted in the search.

The locals noticed the boy’s body, which was taken out, but despite the efforts of the paramedics, they were unable to revive the boy.

Police believe the boy’s death was a case of adventure gone wrong.
