The Bombay High Court has directed the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to provide details of the preliminary inquiry launched against Sameer Wankhede into alleged irregularities in two cases. A division bench of Chief Justices Mohit-Dera and Manjusha Deshpande asked the NCB what the complaints against Wankada were. We were also asked who the complainants were, based on their words the investigation was opened.

Wankhede, a 2008-batch Indian Revenue Service officer, approached the Supreme Court challenging the notice issued to him based on the NCB’s preliminary investigation into alleged irregularities in the drug case related to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

What did Sameer Wankhede say in the counter affidavit?

Wankada filed a counter affidavit in the court on Thursday through his lawyer Rajeev Chavan. He claimed that actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan is facing several cases after he was arrested in the cruise drug case. Wankhede also claimed that former Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik was also hostile towards him because he had arrested Malik’s son-in-law Sameer Khan in a drug case.

On Thursday, the Bombay High Court, after hearing the petition, said that Wankheda had also approached the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) against the notice issued to him by the NCB. The court asked if there was an overlap in the remedies requested by Vanakada?

The court asked questions to Samir Wankada

The division bench of Chief Justice Mohit-Dara and Justice Manjusha Deshpande said that proceedings cannot be conducted at both places simultaneously. The court asked Sameer Wankhede that how can you reach the Bombay High Court when a notice is pending before CAT? Advocate Khawan, appearing in court on behalf of Samir Wankhede, argued that the petition filed with the CAT was related to a notice issued in another investigation. The court then asked for a chart containing the proceedings filed by Wankhede in all forums. The next hearing in this case will be held on April 23.
