GUWAHATI: On the occasion of Bodofa UN Brahma’s birthday, 13 articles embodying the Bodo identity have received the Geographical Indication (GI) tags from the Registry of Geographical Indications, Government of India.

The 13 items include Bodo Dokhona, Bodo Eri Silk, Bodo Jwmgra, Bodo Gamsa, Bodo Keradapini, Bodo Thorkha, Bodo Gongar Dunjia, Bodo Kham, Bodo Serja, Bodo Sifung, Bodo Khardwi, Bodo Gongona and Bodo Jotha.
Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) CEM, Pramod Bodo reached out to X to break the news.
“Today is a day of immense pride for all Bodoland as on the birthday of Bodofa UN Brahma, 13 articles embodying the Bodo identity have been awarded the prestigious GI tag from the Register of Geographical Indications, Govt. of India,” the tweet read.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also reached out to X to announce the news, “What better day than Bodopa’s birthday to receive the GI tags for 13 articles that embody the rich cultural heritage of our Bodo community. This recognition will greatly enhance the promotion of the items and subsequently the heritage of these cultural items”.
