Party workers led by Bharatiya Janata Party, Backward Caste Morha district president Shiv Verma burnt the effigy of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Manab Mandir Chowk on Thursday evening. The Calcutta High Court wrongly struck down the reservation given by Mamata Banerjee to Muslim minorities in the backward class quota, contrary to the constitutional provisions. Mamata Banerjee refused to accept this decision of the court, which is contempt of court. In protest of this, the backward class BJP spread across the country expressed their protest by burning the effigy of Mamata Banerjee. BJP district workers of Morcha backward class raised slogans against Mamata Banerjee and burnt her effigy at Manav Mandir Chowk and demanded constitutional action against her.
