BJP has suspended rebel leader Ashwarappa from the party for 6 years
Bengaluru: Rebel BJP leader KS Eshwarappa, who is contesting the Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka as an independent candidate, was on Monday suspended from the party for six years.
An order to this effect was issued by the BJP’s disciplinary committee following Eshwarappa’s decision not to withdraw his nomination from the popular Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency, which is also contested by BJP’s BY Raghavendra, son of former chief minister BS Yediyurappa. .
Reacting to the development, Ashwarappa said, “I will win the elections and return to the BJP. The father-son duo has been spreading lies since the beginning. Yeddyurappa claimed that I would participate in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s program at Shivamuga, which I did not. Later he claimed that I would not file nomination, but I continued. I have the support of Congress and JD-S.”
Geetha Shivarajkumar, daughter of former Prime Minister S. Bangarappa, this time contesting from Shivumga on a Congress ticket. She is the sister of state education minister Madhu Bangarappa, while her husband is Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar.
