NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has been awaiting bail for the last few weeks amid the confusion of the election (Lok Sabha Election), has got some good news.
The Supreme Court today passed its order on the interim bail of CM Arvind Kejriwal, granting him interim bail till June 1. CM Arvind Kejriwal will be out of jail for election campaign.
It is learned that the ED on Thursday strongly opposed the Supreme Court’s suggestion to grant interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for campaigning in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Kejriwal is currently in Tihar jail after being arrested by the ED on March 21 in a money laundering case related to the Delhi Tax Policy.
The Supreme Court passed the judgment after hearing Kejriwal’s petition challenging Kejriwal’s arrest and remand in the Delhi Tax Policy case. The Delhi High Court had earlier rejected his plea, after which Kejriwal filed an appeal in the Supreme Court. During the hearing of the appeal on May 7, he had pleaded the Supreme Court to grant interim bail to Kejriwal to campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
