The border between India and Nepal has been sealed for voting to be held on May 25 as part of the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections. This step was taken from a security point of view in order for the election process to be conducted in a quiet and fair manner.

The boundaries of Valmikinagar, West Champaran, East Champaran and Sheohar Lok Sabha constituencies are adjacent to Nepal. These borders with Nepal were signed 72 hours before the elections. This will prevent any kind of illegal activity during the elections.

Improved security arrangements

Security has been increased not only at the borders but also on the forest and river routes. Vigilance has been stepped up in these areas by the Seshastra Seema Bal (SSB) and police forces. The security forces were instructed to maintain vigilance in order to be able to act immediately on any suspicious activity.

According to officials, this step is extremely important to keep the election process under control. Due to the sealing of the borders, even people living in the border areas were given strict instructions not to cross the border during elections. The local administration and the security agencies work together to strengthen the security system.

People are directed to immediately report any suspicious activity to the local police or SSB. After the border is closed, people from both countries will have to face problems for the next 72 hours.
