The BC government said Wednesday it had identified “sophisticated cyber security incidents involving government networks.”
In a statement, Premier David Eby’s office said it had found no direct evidence that sensitive information had been compromised.
However, he said the investigation was ongoing and it was yet to fully determine what information may have been accessed.
“I want to assure British Columbians that protecting data and networks is a top priority for our government. Cyber ​​security threats are a constant reality in the modern world and continue to grow in severity,” Eby said in a statement.
“I know the public will have many questions about these events, and we will be as transparent as we can without compromising the investigation.”

The province said it is working with the Canadian Cyber ​​Security Center and other agencies to determine the extent of the incident and bolster the cybersecurity of government data and systems.
He said he has also notified the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of BC.
