Witnesses told 9News that a 50-year-old woman volunteering behind the barbecue passed out, fell and dropped the gas bottle, causing it to ignite.

“She fell on the floor, and the next moment it started booming,” Ernie, who witnessed the fire, told 9News.

According to him, the flames were “quite large”.

“They were hot too, very hot.”

The woman was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with severe burns to her face.

Her husband, a volunteer in the squadron, was also taken to the hospital with minor burns.

The gazebo was completely destroyed and the pieces on the barbecue were burned.

In a statement, Bennings said the crew and a customer worked quickly to get the fire under control, using nearby fire extinguishers to bring the fire under control.

A nearby vehicle was also damaged by the intensity of the flames.
