Former Test cricketer Azhar Mahmood has been appointed as the head coach of the Pakistan team for the T20 series against New Zealand.

The Pakistan cricket team for the T20 series against New Zealand will be announced on Tuesday in Lahore. A roster of 18 will probably be announced.

Former national team bowling coach Azhar Mahmood has been appointed as the national team’s head coach ahead of the series against New Zealand, while Wahab Riaz will be the senior team manager and Mansoor Rana will be the team manager.

It should be noted that Azhar Mahmood was the bowling coach of the Pakistan national team in the past, currently he is associated with Islamabad United as a bowling coach.

Apart from this, Muhammad Yusuf was appointed as the batting coach and Saeed Ajmal as the spin bowling coach for the T20 series against New Zealand.

Earlier it was reported that Azhar Mahmood is a strong candidate for assistant coach, an official announcement will be made only after April 20 after completing the formalities. The former all-rounder will assist Gary Kirsten in white-ball cricket and Jason Gillespie in red-ball.

PCB published the advertisement for assistant coach two days ago, the last date for submission of applications is set for April 20.

It should be noted that the five-match series will be played from April 18 to 27 in Rawalpindi and Lahore. The New Zealand cricket team will arrive in Pakistan on April 14.
