Taking precautions regarding the spread of bird flu in some parts of America and India, the central government has advised people not to consume raw milk. It is recommended to eat non-vegetarian food cooked at an adequate temperature.

The center told states that the evidence so far suggests that bird flu can be prevented from reaching humans. The virus has been confirmed in the milk of infected cattle in eight states in America. This infection is also found in some districts of Kerala, Jharkhand and Maharashtra in India. In such a situation, people were advised to consume milk after boiling it properly. This will help prevent the transmission of the virus to humans.

A review regarding seasonal flu was conducted under the chairmanship of the Director General of Central Health Dr. Atul Goyal, in which ICMR senior officials and scientists were present apart from the affected countries. Both types of influenza H5N1 and H1N1 were discussed at the meeting. Both these viruses are part of a family and H1N1 infection has been confirmed in ducks in three districts of Kerala. If we talk about India, the peak of this virus is seen at least twice a year. The first peak occurs from January to March and the second after monsoon.

Continue monitoring patients in hospitals

In the meeting, officials announced that there should be increased monitoring of the OPD and admission of patients in the hospitals of the districts where cases of infection are reported. Cases of influenza (ILI) and acute respiratory infection (SARI) in hospitals should be recorded and the information sent to the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC). Also, genome sequencing of the sample of each suspected or infected patient is mandatory, for ICMR there are laboratories throughout the country.

The center gave orders for vaccination

The director general of health said that currently the situation is under control. Seasonal flu viruses and avian flu are also being monitored. The ministry also advised the state governments to vaccinate health care workers dealing with H1N1 cases. So far no alarming situation has arisen in any district in the country, but to be safe it is very important to monitor Keep an eye on people with co-morbidities, innocent children and the elderly.
