Assam: Former Chief Secretary Harendra Nath Das passed away at the age of 89 Achi-News

Guwahati: Harendra Nath Das, former Chief Secretary of Assam Government, passed away at 8.20 pm on Friday, May 24 in Guwahati.

Harendra Nath Das died at his Gitnagar residence. He was 89 years old when he died. His body was cremated in Navegra’s crematorium, Friday at midnight.

Harendra Nath Das was the former Principal Secretary of the GOA and the first NER Ombudsman of the RBI. He was in charge of the Government of Assam as he was the Chief Secretary of the Government of Assam from 1990 to 1995.

Harendra Nath Das was also famous as an economist. Das was also Director of the Finance Department, Government of India. He also worked for a short time as an economics lecturer at Prajyotish College, B. Baru College, and finally at Gahti University and Cotton College, with the highest marks in two matriculation subjects (History and Science) and three intermediate subjects (History, Civics and Logic).

Harendra Nath Das passed the IAS (Open Competitive Examination) in 1961 and joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1961. Born in Panbazar in Guwahati, Assam, Das led an active social life while performing his administrative duties. Harendra Nath Das traveled extensively all over the world and was associated with many civil society organizations.
